Carpet Court

selection

There are two main manufacturing methods used in carpet production, namely woven and tufted.

The woven method generally is used to produce highly patterned and decorative effects that you will find in many hotels, clubs and heritage style homes. These types of carpets are commonly known as Axminster or Wilton styles.

The tufted method is by far the most widely used around the world today and can produce carpets with a very wide variety of textures and styles.

Whether it is a woven or tufted carpet you choose, the quality of the carpet is very much dependent on the weight and density of the carpet and the quality of the fibre used in its construction.

There are several types of fibres used in carpet construction and details regarding these can be found by clicking through to the FIBRE section in this site.

performance

The area in your home you are carpeting and factors such as, how many of you are in the home, children, cats, dogs etc who will be using the areas, will need to be considered before you make your final selection. The Carpet Institute of Australia have created a grading system known as the Australian Carpet Classification Scheme (ACCS) which tests and rates carpets based on their results. The gradings which are clearly identified in the showrooms samples will give you a very clear indication as to what level of durability each carpet will deliver so your selection is made easier.

colour

The colour palettes available today are wide and varied. A question you need to answer prior to colour selection is whether you want your carpet to be a major decorating feature in your home or do you want it to blend in with other decorating choices you have made.
In answering this question you will be well on the way to finding a colour that is right for you.
Don't forget that choice of colour can create different moods, feelings and perceptions in the respective areas of your home. For example - shades of blue and green are often perceived as cooling, soothing and calming, light colours give areas a more spacious appearance, whilst darker colours give these areas a more cosy feeling.
