Although choosing underlay may not be as exciting as choosing carpet, it is an important consideration and will enhance the quality and features of your new carpet. Underlay has many benefits, which include:
- Improving the underfoot comfort qualities of carpet
- Absorbing the forces that cause your carpet to 'crush'
- Alleviating problems with small imperfections in floors
- Improving the insulation qualities of carpet
- Improving the ability of carpet to insulate against noise
Underlay is available in three main types - rubber, foam and felt. As each type of underlay is available in different qualities, your Carpet Court salesperson can advice you on the appropriate choices for the carpet you have selected.

Super Cushion features:
Natural
Super Cushion is manufactured with natural rubber trees - a renewable source.
Super Clean
Super Cushion is dust free, lint free and fibre free, those elements so troublesome to the allergy prone.
Anti-microbial
Super Cushion underlay, without the addition to chemical additives, shows a natural resistance to fungal growth and therefore does not need to be sanitised. Super Cushion rubber has been shown not only to resist the growth of bacteria, mould and mildew in itself, but to positively affect connecting surfaces, thus reducing the growth of allergens in the carpet installation.
Super Ventilation
The unique waffle design allows air to circulate through the valleys removing any dampness that may have been likely to collect.
Underfloor Heating
Super Cushion underlay is suitable for use with approval floor heating systems to a surface temperature of 40°C. Of all the underlays, Super Cushion has the least resistance for the passage of heat from the system to the room.
Environmentally Friendly
The sponge rubber effect in Super Cushion rubber is achieved by the release of COČ gas from Sodium Bicarbonate power, simply Baking Soda. It contains no CFC's, Formaldehyde, or volatile organic compounds.
