How can I stop my headboard from falling when I move my bed away from the wall to make my bed?

interior tips how to stop falling headboard modern bed

Headboards aren’t that common these days, mainly because modern beds are stylised in a way that means the headboard is already fixed as part of the frame.

Beds that come without headboards are called divans. Many people prefer to add a headboard on to a divan separately, to turn what is otherwise a boring raised mattress into a feature of the room. Headboards can also provide that additional bit of comfort for when you’re sitting up in bed. interior designs hot to stop falling headboard modern bed

Divans are usually made with bolts at one end for just this purpose. If your headboard is slipping when you move the bed out though, something is wrong. There are three general types of headboard. Those that need to be fixed to the bed, those that need to be fixed to the wall, and those that stand on the floor. But even floor standing headboards will come with screws so that they can be fixed to the bed, to stop them from slipping when the bed is moved.

Solving your problem will be down to what sort of headboard you have. But whatever type of headboard you have, it needs to be properly fitted to stop the problem of it falling down. It is more than likely that your headboard is not fitted properly at the moment.

Pull your bed away from the wall, far enough so you can see where the headboard should be attached to the end of the bed. There should be two struts on the headboard, each with bolts where the headboard is held in place to the frame of the bed.

The struts of the headboard are made so that the headboard can slide up and down to be able to adjust it to any height. Your problem may therefore simply be that the bolts fixing the headboard to the bed are not tight enough, which mean it is not fixed in place. Either tighten the nuts with a wrench or use wing nuts so that you can adjust the headboard more easily by hand.

This should stop your headboard from moving out of place. If your headboard is not fixed to the bed at all, you might want to check to see if there are any fixtures missing that should be attached to hold it in place. Either way, for the sake of safety, and so that you can move the bed around without the problem you describe, you should make sure that the headboard is properly fitted.
