The big reveal of The Pantone Colour Institute’s Colour of the Year saw fresh and zesty ‘Greenery’ come out on top as the must-have hue for 2017. sustainable-living_pantone-greeneryReminiscent of lush foliage, rolling countryside and tropical jungles, the imminent green revolution has unsurprisingly redirected the interiors industry’s attention back towards the concept of sustainable living.

Here are Carpet Court’s top tips for bringing an air of eco-chic into your home this season.

Flooring: Sustainable flooring has sustainable-living_redbook-greencome a long way over the years and Carpet Court offers a selection of eco-friendly flooring options that can be used throughout the home. Our Redbook Green carpet range uses one of the latest breakthroughs in textile innovation – renewably sourced biopolymer Sorona®. Made with 37% natural corn sugar, which gives the carpet a natural fibre base, Sorona® production carries a significantly lower environmental footprint than other polymers on the market.

If you’d prefer to move away from man-made altogether, our new Stockmans Ridge timber sustainable-living_stockmans-ridge-timbercollection, which features six individual timber species, is sustainably manufactured; yielding up to five times more finished product than traditional engineered floors from the same amount of Australian Hardwood.

Similarly, the Arc Bamboo range is sustainably sourced from dedicated plantations that are regrown in five to six-year cycles and sustainable-living_arc-bambooare officially accredited from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). With 11 styles, spanning limed white through to deep java, Arc bamboo has a natural look and feel that will appeal to anybody looking to make their home more ecologically conscious.

Rugs: Carpet Court’s new Naturals Rug Collection provides a raft of choices that bring added sustainable-living_naturals-rugs-hivewarmth and interest to bamboo or timber-style flooring. Made from either 100% wool or 100% cotton, these sustainably crafted rugs come in an array of colours and patterns, including the on-trend, geometric Green White, available within the Hive and Tropic collections.

Paint: Dubbed ‘nature’s neutral’, Greenery works in harmony with many colour combinations – not least, other shades on the spectrum; complementing khakis, mints and emeralds. Start with a pale palette of whites or creams and build greens into the bigger picture, whether you go bold with a full feature wall or opt for splashes and accents using abstract artwork.

Accessories: Turn your home into an oasis of calm, by introducing accessories that further strengthen the shift away from a hectic urban lifestyle. Textured cushions and throws in velvet or a chunky knit help to turn beds and sofas into irresistibly inviting places to relax. Green plants and fresh flowers instantly spark a connection with the great outdoors, as do scented candles with subtle aromas of mahogany, pine or sandalwood.
