Top 3 Tips for Choosing a Rug

The right rug is a great way to add visual interest and warmth to a space. If you have opted for hard flooring such as laminate or timber, a rug is the perfect way to achieve a balance of hard and soft surfaces underfoot.

With so many options available, it can be hard to know which rug is right for your home and family. To help get you started, Carpet Court has compiled a list of the three things to keep in mind when choosing a rug.

1. Lifestyle Choose a Rug Lifestyle
It is important to consider your lifestyle when choosing a rug. By considering how and who will be using the space, you will be able to find the right rug for your home.

If you will be chasing children with muddy feet through the house, or have pets prone to shedding hair you should aim to select a rug that will be durable and easy to clean. The friendly team at Carpet Court will be able to provide advice on the different fibres and textures that are most suitable for your family.

2. Style Choose a Rug Style
Think about the style of your home and how your new rug can complement this style. While the colour of your rug does not need to be an exact match to what is already in the space, it should work with your overall colour scheme.

If your room is quite busy with a range of colours or patterns, a neutral rug may be the best option. However, if your space is fairly simple, adding a rug with a pattern or colour can make a bold and bright statement.

From neutral colours to bright patterns, there is a Carpet Court rug for every style and space.

3. Size Choose a Rug Size
Before you start choosing a rug, you should measure your space so you know what you are working with.

Your new rug should be big enough that the front feet of any furniture in the space can be placed on top of the rug, as this will help create balance and make the room feel larger.
