What’s so different about New Zealand wool?

Assos rugs are hand knotted in 100% New Zealand wool to bring a whole new level of luxury and sophistication to your home.

The craftsmanship of the Assos rug collection is quality eco-design at its finest. This particular wool offers superior characteristics that help the natural textures and rich, earthy colours of the Assos rug range to last and last.

Are wool rugs environmentally friendly?

Absolutely. The New Zealand wool they are crafted from is raised with very little impact on the natural landscape, so if you’re looking for sustainable luxury, these rugs are the perfect choice.

As a renewable and biodegradable fibre, wool is one of the most environmentally friendly flooring products on the market. The energy used to produce wool rugs compared to other materials such as nylon is lower, reducing the carbon footprint of your product.

No internationally banned pesticides are used on New Zealand farms, making their sheep industry one of the world’s greenest animal production systems. This means that your Assos rug is not only comfortable and durable, but a sustainable way of updating your home’s look.

How do Assos rugs feel underfoot?

With a premium wool pile that is a plush 2cm deep, Assos rugs have an undeniable softness, which feels amazing to touch and is beautifully comfortable to walk on.

They’re the perfect choice for areas such as bedrooms and children’s rooms, as they add a genuine warmth and luxurious feel that is both fashionable and functional.

How durable are Assos rugs?

These rugs have an incredible, natural durability that has the ability to withstand heavy foot traffic. In fact, Carpet Court ambassador and design guru Darren Palmer believes the durability and authenticity of 100% wool makes it a great investment for your home as they will last for years and years to come.

With the spiral shape design and naturally crimped texture, you never have to worry about the pile getting matted down, as it will easily return back to its original shape in no time.

Are these rugs a good choice for allergy sufferers?

Yes. 100% New Zealand wool is naturally hygienic and non-allergic, which means they deter the growth of bacteria and dust mites. So if you or any members of your family suffer from allergies, wool’s natural filtering abilities will provide a comfortable, sniffle free environment.

Are wool rugs easy to clean?

Yes. Wool’s natural stain resistant qualities make these rugs easy to clean, but be sure to treat stains and spills immediately with a suitable wool cleaner.

Vacuum your rug regularly to keep it looking good as new.

Will a wool rug be too hot in the summer months?

No. Wool is proven to have excellent insulating properties, and is designed for year round comfort. In Summer a wool rug prevents heat rising through the floor, keeping your room cool and comfortable.

In Winter, wool rugs can help reduce heat being lost through an uninsulated floor, so your room stays nice and cosy.
