There’s a lot to be said for the softness of carpet underfoot but for a contemporary style you also need to provide a look of uniformity and repetition whilst also being soft and plush underfoot. The contemporary look is all about big chunky wool loops that also provide an opportunity for variation in the carpets to help with maintenance of a nice clean look.
You can get the look from Carpet Court’s Gaia Wool collection in any of the two tone colourways; two of my favourites are Hanging Rock and The Pinnacles.
Look for carpets that are neither cut and looped or plush, but rather an oversized loop, preferably in wool, with an even pattern and colour contrast for variation. This look is flat, easy to maintain, hides a lot of the everyday wear and tear that comes with family life and looks chic with minimal effort.
