What is Oak flooring?
Australian Oak is a hardwood timber used in solid timber and engineered timber floors and also produced in hybrid, laminate and vinyl flooring planks.
Sometimes sourced from Victoria where it is described as Victorian Ash, or Tasmania which we know as Tasmanian Oak, it can have quite a busy, textured grain in a range of stained colours. It is a very popular wood for flooring, due not only to its highly durable nature but its diverse natural beauty.
Why should I install Oak flooring in my home?
At Carpet Court a variety of beautiful oak colours and textures are produced in many flooring lines across the timber, laminate, hybrid and vinyl collections. Oak has timeless appeal, an interesting grain with plenty of dimension and diversity and it complements a multitude of interior styles.
Engineered oak timber floors are made from a real hardwood surface above multiple core layers of plywood manufactured to withstand moisture. Engineered oak timber floors float above the subfloor and are fixed in place using a click and lock system. When Carpet Court supply and install elegant oak flooring in your home the result is a luxurious flooring solution which adds value to your home, while being easy to maintain, resilient to family wear and tear and durable for many years to come.
Within Carpet Court’s timber flooring range oak woodgrain is found in the Balmain Oak, Palazzo and Premium Oak collections. With such a broad range of products and colours to choose from, it is easy to find the perfect oak floor to suit your home.
In the truly luxurious laminate flooring, hybrid flooring and vinyl plank flooring ranges the realistic appearance of oak timber floors is available for a fraction of the cost of solid timber. The majority of collections contain an oak timber look – such is its popularity – which is scratch resistant, hardwearing, water resistant or waterproof, and easy to clean.
How long will my Oak flooring last?
Whether you choose your new oak floor to be laid as timber, laminate, hybrid or vinyl, they all offer significant durability and resilience. Each product has a manufacturer’s residential wear and tear warranty which is substantial, even up to 25 years in many cases. The important thing is to care for your oak floor in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines and not to expose it to excessive water, dirt, sunlight or sharp, heavy objects. No floor is going to withstand such treatment, whether it be carpet, tiles or timber floating floors.
The team at your local Carpet Court store have extensive knowledge and experience when it comes to all things flooring, so they will ensure you choose an appropriate oak floor product to suit your home environment, lifestyle and budget. The result? A perfect floor which will last for many years.
Does Oak flooring have easy maintenance?
Oak flooring in any floating floor product can easily be maintained with a regular vacuum using a hard floor attachment or a sweep with an indoor broom or a microfibre mop. A damp mop will remove stubborn marks, but you should refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines for specific care and maintenance instructions.
