What should I think about when choosing carpet?

With over 200 locally-owned and operated stores Australia wide, Carpet Court offer the biggest range of quality flooring products of any retailer in the country. When visiting a Carpet Court store, you will be faced with the choice of timber, laminate, hybrid, vinyl, bamboo or carpet for your floors. If you are considering carpet for your home, you have several things to decide before you can make your final selection.

You will need to determine your budget and consider your lifestyle when selecting between a natural carpet fibre such as wool, or a synthetic fibre. Both have exceptional properties with a range of benefits. Once you have ascertained which fibre best suits your needs, you will need to decide which type of carpet pile you want – loop, plush or twist. Once you’ve reached that point you might think your decision-making is about to get easier, but no! Within each carpet product there are many stunning colours to choose from, possibly the hardest choice of all!

From our extensive range one of our most popular carpets is aptly named Heaven Sent. This truly heavenly carpet is so soft underfoot that it is ideal for homes with children who play on the floor or people who luxuriate in going barefoot.

Which colours is Heaven Sent available in?

Heaven Sent comes in ten fashionable colours specially created to complement and enhance any décor. In keeping with the Heaven Sent theme, Cosmic is a gorgeous cool grey in which the twist pile adds elements of light and dark. Spectral, Stellar, Galactical, Mystical and Astral are also beautiful soft shades of varying greys which contrast so well with today’s on-trend white decors.

For lighter tones, Angelic and Glorious are simply stunning neutrals and Divine is a bold blue which would look particularly delightful in rooms with soft, earthy tones. Celestial has a deep, dark and powerful physique which will speak volumes in a modern, minimalist décor where contrast is apparent.

With so many colour choices there is sure to be one to suit your home style and lifestyle. Don’t forget to factor in things like pet fur and location – for example if you live near a sandy beach or on a dusty farm and have a cream cat and a white dog, Celestial may not be the colour for you!

What are the differences in the materials?

Our carpets are either wool or synthetic. Both materials can have different feels ranging from very soft to a coarser texture. Heaven Sent is a very soft synthetic fibre which is ideal because it has long-lasting properties but is gentle under foot. It is cut with a twist pile which gives each fibre added resilience and durability.

A lovely feature of twist pile carpet is its ability to appear to consist of two shades, such as can be seen in the Heaven Sent colour palette.

Synthetic carpets are renowned for their colour fastness and high resilience making them ideal for high-traffic areas of your home such as living areas and hallways. They are also a good choice for allergy sufferers as they tend not to shed, whereas wool carpets can have a tendency to shed slightly when they are new.

Is synthetic carpet easy to clean?

Synthetic carpets are a very popular choice with Australian families because they are so easy to clean and maintain.

Heaven Sent can be gently sponged using cold water and comes with an amazing 15 year stain resistance warranty. Regular vacuuming will keep your carpets clean from daily dust and debris and spot cleaning small spills in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions is recommended. Steam cleaning your carpet every 12 to 18 months by a professional steam cleaning company will provide a deep cleanse and help to ensure the longevity of your carpets.

Which rooms in my home is carpet suitable for?

Carpet is an ideal flooring solution for any room in the house except for wet areas such as bathrooms and laundries or rooms such as the kitchen where spills, steam and moisture can be prevalent.

It is a beautiful flooring product for bedrooms where sound reduction, insulation and comfort are desirable. In living areas it is an elegant, timeless and practical flooring solution creating a stylish ambience whilst bringing warmth, comfort and texture to the room.

For rooms in which direct sunlight may reach the carpet, light filtering blinds are recommended to prevent fading. Phone 1300 CARPET to find your local Carpet Court store and discuss your flooring and window dressing requirements. Carpet Court will happily provide a free, in-home measure and quote which you can also book online.
