If timber floating floors aren’t the ideal solution for your home, lifestyle or budget, you may want to consider installing floating floors from our vinyl, laminate, hybrid or bamboo collections. Bringing a variety of benefits to your home, these durable products offer the aesthetic beauty of natural timber for a fraction of the price.
How do I look after timber floating floors?
While already exceptionally durable, there are some simple maintenance measures you can take to further extend the life of your timber floating flooring. Regular sweeping, for example, either with a soft bristle or microfiber brush or using vacuum cleaner will prevent dirt and dust particles from building up, which can result in scratches to the surface over time.
For tougher stains, use a well wrung mop and a non-abrasive, specialist floor cleaning product, but make sure not to flood the floor with water, as timber is a natural material that can warp when subjected to excess moisture. Similarly, it’s important to ensure any spills are cleaned up immediately to prevent water marks from forming.
Timber floating floors can also be susceptible to fading from sun exposure, so some strategically placed rugs can help to maintain the colour and tone while also preventing floorboards from becoming worn or scratched in places where foot traffic is high. Move them around regularly to avoid patches of different colour.
For rooms which receive a significant amount of direct exposure to UV rays, you may want to consider installing blinds from Carpet Court’s sunscreen range to protect timber floors and furnishing from sun damage. Dual brackets facilitate the hanging of two blinds from one bracket, a daytime sunscreen blind and a blockout blind for night time privacy.
It’s also wise to bear in mind that, although highly resistant to scratches thanks to its layers of tough, acrylic coating, your timber floating floors can become damaged by animal claws and high heeled shoes over time, so try to avoid these coming into contact with your flooring wherever possible.
Timber floors are a valuable investment in your home. Following the manufacturer’s care instructions will result in a lifetime of durable performance and aesthetic beauty from your timber floating floors.
