Custom Rugs
Design a high-quality rug that works with your space with Carpet Court’s custom rugs, crafted from 100% premium New Zealand wool. You can personalise the texture, colour, size, shape and finish to suit your home, your existing furniture and the way you live every day.
Get the Right Look and Feel With Made-to-Order Custom Rugs
Standard rugs often fall short. Some are either too big or too small, while others are the wrong shape or just not quite right for the space. That’s why custom made rugs are a smarter option when you want something that actually works with your home, not against it.
At Carpet Court, we’ve been helping Australians find the right flooring solution for decades. Our custom rugs are made to order using high-quality New Zealand wool and tailored to suit your space. Whether it’s for compact bedrooms or busy living areas, you can personalise the size, shape, colour, and edge finish to create a bespoke rug that works with your interior design needs and holds up to everyday life.
What Makes a Custom Rug Work for the Way You Use the Space?
A good rug should do more than look nice. It should work with the room’s layout, how you move through it, and how you use the space day to day. That’s where customisation makes a real difference. Here’s how the right size, shape, texture, edge and colour can help your rug feel like it belongs:
- Size: A rug that’s too small can make everything feel disconnected, while one that’s too big might throw the room off balance. Custom sizing means you can get it just right, whether it’s a small rug beside the bed or a large-size rug to pull a living area together.
- Shape: Rug shape helps define the space. Rectangular rugs work well in lounge rooms, under dining tables, or down high-traffic hallways. Round rugs are great for softening corners or adding interest in open spaces. Square rugs can bring symmetry to bedrooms, studies or balanced layouts.
- Texture and construction: Both durability and the way a rug feels underfoot matter, especially in spaces you use often. Flatweave rugs sit low and feel sturdy, while hand-tufted or handmade rugs offer a bit more softness and texture.
- Edge finish: A concealed edge gives you a cleaner, more seamless finish, whereas a fabric edge adds a subtle border that helps define the rug. Both are stitched carefully to hold their shape and keep the rug looking neat over time.
- Colour: This is what ties everything together. Rugs in neutral tones are easy to live with because they sit comfortably in most settings and won’t compete with other finishes or furnishings in the room.
In short, you’re not adjusting your space to suit the rug. You’re designing the rug to suit your space. And with Carpet Court, you can bring all of these elements together in a way that works for how you live.
Carpet Court’s Custom Rug Collection
Carpet Court’s custom rug design collection includes four distinct styles, each offering something different in texture, weight and finish. Whether you’re after something soft and smooth or more structured underfoot, you can customise the rug around your own design needs and the way your space is used.
- Allure: Smooth, soft, and beautifully consistent underfoot, Allure has a plush finish that works well in bedrooms, lounges or anywhere you want that extra level of comfort. Its even texture gives it a calm, refined feel — a good match for rooms with subtle styling or a more minimal look.
- Drift: Drift brings a natural, relaxed texture that feels right at home in casual spaces. Think of it like a softer alternative to sisal or jute, with a finish that’s easier on the feet. It’s a great option for everyday areas where you want a bit of texture without anything too bold.
- Escape: With a subtle woven look and a touch more structure, Escape suits spaces that get regular use but still need to feel inviting. It has a balanced feel — not too soft, not too flat — and works well under dining tables, in home offices or as a base layer in open-plan layouts.
- Immerse: Immerse is bold and full of character. With a more defined texture and a heavier feel underfoot, it adds weight and presence to the room. It’s a good match for larger spaces where you want the rug to feel more anchored, without overpowering the rest of the design.
Each style in this collection is crafted from 100% New Zealand wool and made to order by Bremworth, a brand known for its craftsmanship, attention to detail and commitment to the highest standard and artistry of wool rug making.
Designing Your Custom Rug With Carpet Court
Designing a rug to suit your room doesn’t need to be complicated. With Carpet Court, you can work through each step online—from selecting the style to setting the exact size and finish. The result is a rug that feels considered, not compromised.
Step 1: Pick your rug style. Start by selecting one of the four wool styles in our custom rug collection. Each offers a different texture and finish to suit your room — from smooth and soft to bold and structured.
Step 2: Set your custom size. Use the slider to adjust the rug dimensions so it fits your space exactly. Whether you’re designing a small piece for beside the bed or a larger rug to zone an open-plan room, you can enter the exact custom size you need.
Step 3: Pick the shape, colour and edge finish. Next, select the shape that works best with your layout — round, square or rectangular. Pick a colour that complements your flooring, furniture or favourite motif, then pick a fabric edge for a defined border or a concealed edge for a seamless look.
Step 4: Finalise your custom design. Once you're happy with the details, review your selections and head to checkout. Every rug order includes a free anti-slip mat to help keep your rug in place and protect the surface underneath.
If you’d like to see how a rug looks and feels before ordering, you can request up to three free swatches. They’re great for checking colour, texture, and how the rug will sit alongside other finishes in the room.
Because each rug is made to order, the lead time is approximately 8 to 12 weeks. Please note that custom rugs are not eligible for change-of-mind returns, so make sure all measurements and selections are correct before placing your order.

What to consider when choosing custom-size rugs?
When designing a unique rug for your interior space be sure of the colours and textures which will work best with other decor elements — from furniture to wall art to natural light.
Because custom size rugs are made to order for unique spaces and tastes, no returns, exchanges, or change-of-mind refunds are given. So before submitting your order online, please check all measurements and personalisation very carefully. Also take time to ensure that the size of the rug is perfect for the space you intend to place it. If you require help to determine the correct size of the rug for the area, chat to the helpful design team at your local Carpet Court store, or get in touch.
If you choose a fabric edge as opposed to a concealed edge, please note that the manufacturer will match the fabric edge to the colour of the custom made rug selected. Each custom made rug comes with an anti-slip mat to be used beneath the rug. An anti-slip mat not only prevents slippage but also protects your floor and rug and adds additional softness underfoot.
How much should I pay for a custom rug?
A custom rug is an investment that will bring many years of enjoyment and comfort, while also protecting your floors. Once you’ve selected the design, colour, shape and size of your felted wool, custom-made rug from Carpet Court, a cost estimate will appear in your shopping basket. A custom rug’s cost will vary depending on the size you choose, from which collection, and the edge style finish. For Carpet Court customers, shipping is free across Australia. You can also order three free sample swatches before making your choice to buy a custom rug.
