Crafted rugs from Turkey, the exotic Ottoman collection brings the beauty and wonder of the Orient to contemporary homes. Available in a range of colours from neutral cream and ivory, vibrant greens and rich reds and darker hues of brown and black.
What are traditional rugs?
Traditional rugs span a range of designs, fabrics and colours rich in historic culture and craft to create vibrant warmth and belonging within our homes.
Some of Carpet Court’s most popular traditional rugs have been created by craftsman from truly exotic, far-away places such as Turkey, Morocco, India and China. These beautiful floor rugs bring a timeless sense of culture from the Ottoman empire, the Orient or the Middle East to our homes, providing statement pieces of interest, warmth and original style.
To understand the beauty of a traditional rug, imagine the work of skilled artisans depicting the ancient cultures of Morocco. Once upon a time, vibrant medieval cities bustled with thriving marketplaces beneath sapphire skies and scorching sun. Their rugs were created with natural textiles, handcrafted in traditional patterns and earthy colours.
Such is the traditional rug collection from Carpet Court.
What designs and colours can I find in your traditional rugs range?
Take for example the stunningly beautiful yet surprisingly resilient Marrakesh rug collection. Made in Turkey, we see six Berber-inspired Moroccan rugs woven in 20mm polypropylene fibres. The background tones are light and uplifting; the traditional diamond patterns depicted in cool blue and yellow hues contrasted with rich reds to reflect the soils and the skies of sundrenched Morocco.
Offering similar diamond patterns, the Bohemian-inspired Zanzibar collection provides fourteen rich and colourful rugs in a variety of traditional tribal designs. These power-loomed rugs are also made in Turkey using a non-shed 6mm pile in 100% polypropylene fibres.
Adding a touch of Bollywood to the equation, Rustic Charm is a series four stunning rugs hand-woven in India in a flatweave combination of natural fibres. Using leather, jute and cotton to recreate the rustic charm of a classic boho rug, these statement rugs boast recycled materials, hand-loomed characteristics and a choice of subtle colours.
Whatever the tradition, at Carpet Court we have a rug to tell the story.
How to choose the best traditional rug?
A floor rug will either be a statement piece around which the theme of your décor is built, or a complementary piece providing a base or foundation to the theme created by other pieces in the room.
As traditional rugs often boast rich colours, patterns or designs, they are ideal for creating interest in an otherwise neutral décor, with the occasional accessory such as a lamp or a piece of art adding to the theme.
With all floor rugs you need to consider your home environment to determine which type of fibre is best. In a room which receives a lot of direct sunlight, a synthetic fibre can offer excellent fade-resistant properties. In active family homes polypropylene is a hardwearing, easy-care textile which can withstand the rigours of family life. In a formal setting pure wool rugs offer a luxurious feel along with excellent insulative properties.
Take all factors into account when choosing the best traditional rug for your home. If in doubt, consult the experts at your local Carpet Court store.
