Reaching this remarkable milestone of 50 years in business is a true testament to the great service and dedication our network of stores has provided their local communities. From humble beginnings, Carpet Court has evolved into Australia's premier retail destination for flooring and window furnishings. Today, we proudly stand as the industry leader, committed to delivering excellence and inspiring customers across the nation.

1973

On December 21, 1973, Associated Furnishers Pty Ltd came to life, laying the foundation for what would become Carpet Court—a beloved name in flooring and window furnishings.

1975

In 1975 the fall of Saigon marked the end of the Vietnam War, while the dismissal of Gough Whitlam left a lasting impact on Australian politics.

1979

In 1979 in Melbourne a similar group, Alliance Buyers Company Pty Ltd was formed. They eventually joined with Associated Furnishers Pty Ltd which grew in the number of stores.

1983

A monumental shift occurred with the float of the Australian dollar, opening new doors and ushering in exciting possibilities.

1987

The October Stock Market Crash made headlines worldwide, reminding us of the resilience required to overcome challenges.

1992

A welcome change arrived as a new General Manager took charge of Alliance Buyers Group, steering us towards a bright future.

1993

Alliance Buyers Group expanded its presence, growing to an impressive 53 stores across the nation.

1994

Embarking on a journey across the pond, we ventured to New Zealand to explore the market and deepen our understanding of the Carpet Court NZ business. Our Queensland and Victorian stores embraced the name Carpet Court, symbolising our commitment to being the go-to destination for all things flooring.

1999

Carpet Court Australia Pty Ltd emerged, uniting state groups under one umbrella to champion national promotion, marketing, and product development. The group split into Carpet Court Southern and Carpet Court Northern, ensuring our services reached far and wide.

2000

The introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) brought changes to the economic landscape, impacting consumers and businesses alike.

2001

The world stood still in the wake of the tragic events of September 11, forever altering the global landscape.

2003

Alliance Buyers Co Ltd transformed into Carpet Court Southern Co Ltd, introducing the whimsical Carpet Court Jester and its playful hat logo.

2004

Carpet Court Northern was formed when Queensland and Northern New South Wales Members joined forces, creating even more opportunities to serve our customers.

2006

A moment of unity arrived as all Carpet Court stores gathered on the Gold Coast for the first National Carpet Court Conference—an event that celebrated collaboration, growth, and shared expertise.

2007

A milestone merger unfolded, bringing together Carpet Court Northern and Southern to establish Carpet Court Australia—a network of 180 stores committed to transforming homes nationwide.

2008

The Global Financial Crisis posed challenges, but our unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction remained unshakable.


2009

All stores embraced the name Carpet Court Australia Pty Ltd, showcasing our commitment to providing a seamless and exceptional customer experience.

2012

An exciting chapter unfolded with the launch of our new marketing and brand strategy. The DesignHub selection area was in a-store and the online Room Decorator Tool empowered customers to explore their creativity. We also became proud sponsors of The Block, our longeststanding partnership to date. Accomplished interior ambassadors Stacey Kouris and Darren Palmer joined our team, inspiring countless Australians along their styling journey.

2014

Renowned lifestyle TV presenter Shelley Craft joined forces with Darren Palmer as Carpet Court ambassadors, bringing their incredible expertise and inspiration to our brand. Together, they launched the first DesignHub Magazine and unveiled our captivating new tagline, "Love the Look."

2015

Carpet Court proudly became Australia's largest window-covering retail network, with 135 stores offering a wide range of beautiful window coverings.

2018

We embarked on a rebranding journey, developing a fresh look and feel for our logo, reflecting our continued dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction.

2019

A new chapter unfolded as we revealed our redesigned Carpet Court logo, illustrating a fresh and minimal aesthetic. Supported by our inspiring tagline, "DREAM IT, STYLE IT, LIVE IT," we launched a new website, providing customers with a hub of renovation inspiration. The rebranding extended to our showrooms, where new signage welcomed visitors nationwide.

2020

In November 2020, Carpet Court forged a partnership with Qantas Loyalty, offering Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Business Rewards members, 1 point per dollar spent within the Carpet Court network. Providing further incentive to make dreams come true within our stores.

2021

Carpet Court unveiled a ground breaking addition to our carpet offering—the introduction of ECONYL® yarn, providing eco-friendly options for our environmentally conscious customers.

2022

The world mourned the loss of Queen Elizabeth II

This year, Carpet Court proudly celebrates 50 years of providing flooring and window furnishing solutions for Australian homes. Carpet Court has a growing network of over 200 stores in every state and territory. All stores are proudly Australian, as well as locally owned and operated. In fact, in many cases the people that own the store, actually work in the store. This means that our people work hard to give you exactly what you want at the best possible price.
