Why choose laminate flooring for my living area?

Living areas are notoriously subject to high foot traffic, meaning they demand a floor covering which is designed with durability in mind. Vue Laminate offers an exceptional level of resistance, not only in relation to the wear and tear of daily footfall, but also to scratches, stains, fading and moisture; giving you the look, feel and durability of real timber at a fraction of the cost.

As a floor covering, laminate is simple to maintain, with a quick, but regular, sweep and the occasional wipe over with appropriate cleaning solution all that’s required to keep your floor looking ship shape.

Laminate is also great for bringing a cohesive aesthetic to your home, as it’s both a practical and stylish solution that unites living and dining spaces, hallways and kitchens.

What colours and styles are available in this range of flooring?

Vue Laminate’s premium look and feel is created by its long, wide planks, which are drawn from a mix of mountain, highland and provincial oak species.

Comprising 10 quality styles in a variety of autumnal shades, the range features colours that span from light Snow White and Pearl Grey to Natural Oaks and deeper Heritage Brown, evoking a warm ambience in any room. All styles feature an embossed grain, to authentically replicate the look and feel of real timber, and have a matte finish and micro bevelled edging to create a stunning, seamless aesthetic.

Is this range of flooring durable for high traffic areas?

Laminate is one of the most durable flooring options on the market, combining the beauty of real timber with a tough protective layer that ensures boards stand up to everything from regular, high impact footfall and animal claws, to moisture and intense sunlight.

As a result, it is ideal for installation in kitchens, living and dining areas, and hallways where traffic tends to be significantly higher than in other areas of the home. As these spaces are also often the largest rooms, it’s important to consider how your flooring will impact on acoustics and thanks to its long, wide boards, along with its thick 12mm depth, it provides a solid sound underfoot.

How is this range of flooring installed?

For those looking for a completely hassle-free solution, Carpet Court can arrange for one of our flooring experts to lay your laminate – simply find your nearest store using our store locator and speak to a team member.

Alternatively, if you have confidence in your DIY skills, doing your own laying is a simple enough project to undertake. Thanks to its innovative 5G InstaClic locking system, boards can be simply clicked together, without the need for glue or nails.

Vue Laminate can be installed over existing floor coverings such as vinyl, cork, ceramic, tiles and timber, however, the flooring must be both level and well adhered for a professional finish.

Clean the floor thoroughly to ensure there aren’t any lumps and bumps that will affect the surface level. Then, lay some quality underlay – this will help to improve both comfort underfoot and room acoustics. Lay the first row of boards starting from one corner of the room, pushing the ends together until you hear a click that signals the boards are locked in place. Ensure you use packers to leave the desired gap between the floorboard and the wall to allow for a baseboard.

When it comes to the second row, cut one board to half the size to stagger the joints against those of the row already laid and repeat the locking process. Continue to offset each row in the desired fashion until you come to the final row, where boards may need to be cut lengthways to achieve the perfect fit.

A detailed step-by-step guide to the installation process will be included with the product.

How do I clean and maintain this type of laminate flooring?

When it comes to cleaning laminate, using minimal water is key to maintaining the look of your flooring.

Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment or a microfiber brush dampened with appropriate, non-abrasive floor cleaning product on a regular basis to prevent the build-up of debris. If wet spillages occur, clear them up immediately using a damp cloth and ensure you dry the floor thoroughly afterwards.
