Care Instructions

Please refer to your product guide or store for the best advice on how to care for your rug.

What are the design benefits of patterned rugs?

The Siena range of rugs is available in 18 distinctive patterns. Pattern is a bold way to bring interest into your rooms, and that’s just what good rooms have in common. Any great interior will have complement and contrast, so don’t be afraid to experiment. There will be elements that tie together and elements that deliberately stand apart, but actually work together because they are diametrically opposed.

How do I know which pattern to choose?

If your furniture choices are modest, then you will need to look at additional items for colour, contrast and pattern to complement. Your Siena rug could be a bold colour such as the Dots/Blue Grey, a big print such as the Chevron Grey/Mocha or Chevron Gun Metal, a geometric pattern such as the Herringbone Grey or any number of things. You can play with pattern as texture, with the contrast coming from the difference between the fibres in the weave. Mixing and matching patterns is perfectly acceptable and generally preferred. A good rule of thumb is to include some solid colour in the area so you don’t overwhelm the room. Colour also affects how we see patterns. High contrast patterns create an energetic feeling and colours close in hue value create a more subdued environment.

How do I know if the size of the rug is right for my space?

As a general rule, your Siena rug should sit underneath every object in a living room. That means if you have a coffee table, sofa, occasional chairs or ottoman or even side tables, all of these objects should sit on your Siena rug. If you follow this guideline, you will have a rug that defines the room, and brings all the disparate elements of the space together.

How do rugs work in an open-plan space?

Siena rugs would be an amazing design addition to open-plan spaces as you can use them to separate the areas visually, or demarcate a space as both living and dining.

Do you have any colour advice?

The most important advice we can offer you is that if you love the colour and pattern of your rug, it’s absolutely right for you. As design guru and our own Carpet Court ambassador Darren Palmer says, colour choice is much like music choice. There are no “right” or “wrong” genres, but rather a reflection of experience and personal taste. The same goes for choosing the colour of your rug. Though a rug is a perfect place to bring some colour and graphic elements into your spaces, you really need to please yourself.

With the strong patterns in the Siena rug range, you can use your rug as an artwork piece on the floor. It can stand apart from all your other soft furnishing choices, or you can use the colour in the rug as the starting point for your cushion choices. Just be mindful not to be too matchy-matchy when you’re using your rug colour as a reference.

Do rugs suit any type of flooring?

Yes. Rugs are amazingly versatile and look just as beautiful on a timber floor as they do on tiles or concrete. Just consider the colour tones of your flooring when choosing your rug and opt for a rug that gives some contrast. Patterned rugs such as the stunning Siena rug range can define on-trend colours and styles, and instantly update and refresh a room. Another big advantage of rugs is that they keep your floors looking in good shape by protecting them from damage such as scratches from high heels, furniture or dropped objects.

What if I want to change the colour or pattern?

No problem. With graphic rugs such as those in the Siena range, we totally understand that you may change your mind when you get it home and see how it fits with your current décor. If you’d like to exchange it for another print, or get a full refund, you’ll need to return it to us within 5 days of purchase. It’s important that the rug is still in new condition and in the original packaging and you have proof of purchase. Please note that return courier charges will apply.
