What are the practical benefits of this rug?
Made from synthetic fibres, Skandi rugs are hard-wearing and long-lasting. This makes them ideal for areas of the home with high foot traffic, like entranceways and living areas, where flooring is more likely to become worn down over time. As the fibres have also been solution-dyed during the production process, they offer excellent colour fastness and are less susceptible to fading – promising a look that will last.
If you have large expanses of hardwood flooring in your home, Skandi rugs are a great way to bring some extra warmth and comfort to your space. Super soft underfoot and sound reducing, they’re a good option if you also have little ones running around too.
What are the styling benefits of this rug?
Rugs bring another dimension to your flooring, particularly when layered against hardwood, such as timber or laminate. They work especially well in open plan areas too, demarcating certain spaces; separating the living and dining areas, for example.
Skandi rugs are, as the name suggests, available in a palette of colours that define the Scandi style. Gentle creams, crisp whites, duck egg blues and warm beiges work in harmony with natural elements, like timber, while minimalist patterns let statement accessories do the talking.
How do I care for this rug?
Skandi rugs are exceptionally easy to care for. Simply vacuum regularly, as you would a normal carpet, and ensure any stains are dealt with as quickly as possible. Blot rather than rub the stain, working from the outside in to prevent the stain from spreading or the rug from becoming worn down.
As rugs are often placed underneath large pieces of furniture, which can leave indentations over time, it is a good idea to place additional cushioning underneath heavier items. It’s also worth rotating your rug every few months to ensure even wearing.
What size rug do I need for my space?
Skandi rugs come in a number of different sizes and the size you need really depends on the area in which you are planning on placing your rug.
For example, if you’re positioning your rug underneath a bed, the lower two thirds of the bed should sit on top of the rug and extend out on either side. If you’re using your rug in a dining space, the entire dining set should fit comfortably within the rug area. The edges of the rug should extend beyond the back of the chairs. Of course, these are only guidelines and it ultimately should be determined by the aesthetic of your room.
